Welcome, Traveler…
Welcome to my Devlog! My name is Sebastian, and allow me to overwhelm you with what this Devlog will cover.
This is a very primitive placeholder-art-filled version of the game I’m developing, known as Platinum Crown. The premise is a 2D pixel art style roguelike with infinite replay-ability. As with any other game in its infancy, anything you see here very well may change and can be entirely reworked and revamped. Keeping that in mind, let me walk you through the ideas I’ve got in my mind as well as my thought process for the development front.
Lore
I’ve had a very creative mind since I was a young boy, and as such how could I resist the call to create an entire lore-series for this game alongside a moral and tale for the game’s plot. The story takes place in the land of Nithe, a land populated by humans and fantastical creatures alike. These lands are blessed by a pantheon of gods, the Court of Celestine, each god with their own domain and allure. Gods like Rosalie, Goddess of Fire and Passion, or Skoran, God of Decay and Rebirth, which each have their own worshippers from parts all around the continent. Long, long ago the gods made a decision to each have the power to bless creatures of the land that worshipped them, and with time and generations these blessings manifested as physical gifts. One example is the Nekita clan, a group of humans blessed by C’artame, God of Tricksters and Agility. These people were long ago said to have feline features, with human faces and body structure, but signature cat ears and strengthened musculature within their legs. These humans granted boons by the gods became known as the Gifted, and just as with any other group that gains power, they were treated oftentimes with ire from onlookers. “Why do they get the ability to spew fire or climb trees and we have to sit here raking leaves all day? ” commoners would ask. ” Why do they get power that I don’t? ” aristocrats wondered. Soon enough these boons became curses, as whole families and guilds were forcefully removed from the human settlements, sometimes with predatory legislation, but more oftentimes by torches and pitchforks.
More lore will be revealed within the next Devlog post, but for now I leave you with a crude map of the world… and a word: Elves.
Until next time!
